I'm an author & columnist, a retired government contractor marketing & project management expert and a blues/jazz musician.
Once upon a time, I was an aerospace and IT engineer, and then an industry executive. I finally relinquished his suit and tie to start a consulting company, Celerity Works, in 1999 where I advised over 500 company and government executives and managers.
Now retired (from work), I recently founded GiveTeensHope.org to encourage young people in these difficult times and to promote my latest book, Eleven Life Lessons for Teenagers (& Everyone Else). which is now a free Flipbook.
I spend most of my time speaking to teenagers, writing essays and books, raising money with (and for) my wife of 55 years for MS research and services, creating graphic art, attending Buddhist discussion meetings, seeing a wonderful therapist, playing piano, harmonica and singing with local musicians, and weather permitting, hiking. My wife and I live on a beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest.
Based on the presentation I've given to over 3,000 high school students, Eleven Life Lessons for Teenagers (and Everyone Else) is a 50-page guide (now also a FREE Flipbook) filled with wisdom and insight for teens and parents who're looking for help responding to their teenager's concerns. Intertwined with an honest sharing of my own personal challenges are the answers to eleven of teen’s most pressing questions including making a difference in the world, dealing with depression and anxiety, making mistakes, getting bad grades, improving relationships, taking risks, and finding hope in a challenging world.
My solitary endeavors during COVID isolation (including playing music withour band, Good Karma Blues, in my garage) culminated in four published books: The Essential Guide to Managing a Government Projects and How to Win in the Government Market (with Mark Amtower), Personal Growth Through the Eyes of 34 Writers, Artists and Philosophers and My 50 Years of Buddhist Practice, I'm also the author of How to Develop a Winning SBIR Proposal (with Eric Adolphe).
I've produced numerous webinars (many are still on YouTube!) and written several hundred magazine columns, articles, and blog posts on a variety of business and Buddhist-related topics. I'm also the author of Romancing the Buddha (fourth edition) which I adapted and performed as a successful one-man show that can be watched on YouTube.
My nature photographs have appeared in the Boston Globe, Bainbridge Island Magazine, Living Buddhism as well as in several galleries. My latest project utilized Chat-AI and Photoshop to create a series of ten posters for the lobby of New Motion Physcal Therapy.
